Abstract

The scientific aim from this survey is to assess the protective, intensive effects of curcumin and copper nicotinate complex in reducing the toxicity of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in animal rats. Total number of albino rats are 60 and classified into four collections: group 1; as normal group or control, group 2; aflatoxicosed by oral dose of AFB1 (60 mg/kg B.W.) three times weekly for 5 weak, group 3; orally the same dose of AFB1 and curcumin (200 mg/kg B.W.) which dissolved in 25 ml corn oil, group 4; taken orally the same dose of AFB1 and the copper nicotinate complex (0.043 mg/kg B.W.). Following the completion of the study, the albino rats were sacrificed; blood samples and liver tissues were obtained for histopathological and biochemical investigations. And there are significant differences between the two groups of curcumin and copper nicotinate complex in comparing to the control group. The findings of this study demonstrated the superior efficacy of the copper nicotinate complex in comparison to curcumin as a protective agent against aflatoxicosis. This could be a result of the antioxidant properties of the copper nicotinate complex. We can suggest using this complex as a food additive to prevent the toxicological effects of AFB1 based on the findings of these investigations.
